For my consumer, I chose Amelia Kelly, an independent young woman working as an art curator at the Royal Ontario Museum.
She has an alternative fashion sense and is always searching for clothing that is professional enough to wear to work, yet suits her personal style.
While researching style directions, I came across two main influences.
The first is Shigenori Soejima, a Japanese character artist best known for his work in video game concept art. The way he designs fantasy armor was a huge inspiration for me.
I then looked through the archives of Jean Paul Gautier, the French haute couture designer. The way he combined the medieval style with modern fashion was fascinating, especially the corset that appears to be made of metal but is really intricately sewn metallic fabric.
After deciding on the medieval design direction, I sought out a pair of boots that I could upcycle to my liking.
I thrifted brown heeled boots, deconstructed them, hand-painted the remaining leather, and attached new ECCO leather.
