In this project, we were paired up to use our partner as our model and consumer.
I was paired with Kiera, an outdoorsy and adventurous girl with a down-to-earth, granola fashion sense. Her main complaint was that her hiking wear often optimized practicality over fashion.
I landed on a transforming design that could have a fitted silhouette for convenience during high intensity hikes or a more fashionable flared silhouette inspired by bell-bottom pants.
We were provided with upholstery fabric to use in creating our prototype. I chose a thick, durable canvas for the bulk of the pants, with a thinner, slightly stretchy fabric for the hips and flares.
If this product moved to manufacturing, I would choose corduroy as the production material. Corduroy is ideal for these versatile pants because of its durability, warmth, and comfort.
